Opened in 2021, Attention to Detail is Carla Terry’s second business. She founded her company, Shear Cuts Ltd., in memory of her late father Graham. Her first business, Barber Queens, was opened on the 1st of April 2021 and then a few months later on the 14th of July, Attention to Detail was born.
The name Shear Cuts references her father Graham Terry’s life as a sheep farmer. He passed on his 83rd birthday in 2020. It was his love for the art and ritual of old-fashioned barbering that inspired her 25+ year career.
The name Attention to Detail comes from Carla’s mothers role in sheep farming. Farmers wives need to have an attention to detail to make sure the farmers and the house are well looked after. Carla’s mother has always had a keen eye for detail making sure everything was where it was needed, when it was needed, without anything overlooked. Especially at shearing time, when it was time for a cup of tea and some scones for the hardworking shearers.
I have 25 years experience in the hairdressing / barbering industry. Having bought Barber Queens and started Attention to Detail, life is very busy both at work and at home. I have a blended family of 5 children. Two children of my own (and two grandchildren) and three stepchildren, varying in ages from 20 to 33 (including four grandchildren). In my spare time I am the lead singer in a Classic Rock Covers Band. So, you may have seen us play at a local bar or private function. If I still have spare time, I also love to spend time with my family, watch the kids when I can, and head off for a night or two to chill and relax with my fiancée.
